The Opportunity:

We are looking for an experienced Database Administrator (DBA) to migrate company’s business data into MySQL from existing database systems and enhance the database structure to meet the rapidly-expanding business.

The DBA’s primary duties would include:

• Managing MySQL on Linux platform in Production, Staging, QA, and Development environments including installation, migration, configuration, optimization, automation, backup, recovery, upgrades, schema changes, etc.
• Assistance in developing homegrown MySQL tools and architecturally enhance the existing data structure to meet the new business requirements
• Creating processes to ensure data integrity and identify potential data errors. In other words, help figure out appropriate monitoring techniques, especially for contingency and production environments
• Quickly troubleshooting server problems and development and deployment of preventive measures to maintain high availability
• Fix database related defects

Candidate Profile:

Basic Skills
• Proficient in SQL
• Proficient in at least one scripting language – Ruby, Python, Perl, etc
• 3+ year experience with database administration; MySQL experience preferred
• Experience working on a Unix/Unix-like platform; Linux preferred
• Performance tuning experience
• Ability to work independently, as well as collaboratively with other staff members, to complete short and long-term projects

Advanced
• Experience in system availability, performance management
• Experience with Java-based application
• Familiarity with web-based application integration

Job Requirements:

• B.S. Computer Science or equivalent work experience
• Strong verbal and written communication skills in English, Japanese will be a plus
• Self-motivated and ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth environment
